About The Event

Join parishioner and professor of religious studies, Russ Tripi with a special Lenten Saturday Session.  This workshop will use clips from the 1973 and 2000 motion picture productions of Jesus Christ Superstar to explore the figure of Judas Iscariot and what the Bible and early Church tradition say about the fate of this betrayer.

  • Free and open to all.  This is a nondenominational presentation.
  • Reservations required. 
  • Coffee provided.
  • Participants are encouraged, but not required to view the 1973 film, "Jesus Christ Superstar" before the event.

About the Concept:

This event is part of our "Saturday Sessions" workshop series.  Join Russ with his energetic, fast-paced, theatrical, and (sometimes) comedic style as he engages the audience in some topic of religious studies.  All sessions are presented in an academic, yet accessible manner, making it ideal for individuals of all ages and educational backgrounds.

About the Speaker:

Russ Tripi is currently the Director of Religious Education at St. Bartholomew Episcopal Church.  He possesses a BA and MA in Theology & Religious Studies from John Carroll University and has over twenty years of professional experience teaching at the high school and college levels. He has published and contributed to countless curricula all over the United States and continues to host a popular YouTube channel for the purpose of making theology fun and accessible to the 21st-century learner.
